Host Website Rankings for 2017

Every year, the landscape changes. As I’ve updated my web hosting rankings heading into 2017, I’ve looked back over time and seen many steady performers as well as some new entrants.

Below is a chart that shows which companies I have worked with, as well as a link to my personal review of each.

Remember – there are many types of hosting companies out there that I review. Some focus on shared hosting, others are better for wordpress hosting. Some go way beyond that. So please, if you have any questions, get in touch with me and I’m happy to go over any options with you over the phone or via email.

Rating Website Hosts in 2017

Website hosting companies offer a wide range of prices and plans, and it can get downright confusing if you don’t know what you are doing. While it is very attractive to simply sign up for a cheap web host, making you feel that all your worries are taken care of, there quite a few of factors which you should keep in mind, and you will also often come across the understanding that a paid host is much more beneficial in the long run. Follow a few of my expert tips here on how to pick the best web hosting service for you.

Focus on your current website

Keep in mind what the basic idea of your website really is, what does your website do? Is it a website which you made for a pass time to practice or to share with friends and family, on the other hand, is it a blog or some other type of personal site? Is it a business website or an online store? Giving yourself answers to these questions will help you to work out exactly what you need to look for in a web host to best suit your website. If you are only making a site to practice or share with friends and family, you can probably use the services of cheap website hosting. It will be slow and ads will be stuffed on it, but you will be able to practice working with web servers.

Keep in mind the potential of your growth

You should know if your business is growing at a high pace. Are you gaining new customers on a highly regular basis or do you foresee and seek a pertinent increase in visitors on your website? There is a very good chance that what works for you now will need to be scaled and built up geared towards growth in the near future. When choosing a web host, always remember to map out and keep the future in mind and plan henceforth accordingly. Cheap web hosting will also often make it difficult to transfer your site to a new host when and if you ever decide to switch. It can be a royal pain to move hosts once you are up and running – especially if the support is shoddy.

Study what the main types of hosting are

There are three main types of servers offered by web hosting companies: Shared servers, virtual servers, and dedicated servers. If your website is on a shared server, it will share server resources with other websites on the same server. Virtual servers are virtual dedicated servers, and can provide a lot more stability and greater resources. These are highly recommended for small businesses that run an online store. Dedicated servers are entire physical servers dedicated to just your website. These are typically used for small businesses or corporate websites which have a lot of business or that induce high traffic. Dedicated servers are the most expensive option, but have the most amounts of resources and are low on downtime.

There are many web hosting reviews on the right side of the page. A few that I think I should point out to you are SiteGround.com, and Eleven2.com. I recently added Green Geeks to my massive list of companies I work with and the Green Geeks review may be one that you should check out because they routinely run special offers and I’ve really liked their customer service so far.

Also, you’ll definitely have to read about this insane SEO research tool that I’ve really taken a liking to and gave my full endorsement. It’s one of the only tools out there I use on a daily basis. Be sure to give it a read if you do any sort of search engine optimization.
